The City of London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. It is in a privileged location as it is watered by the fabulous River Thames and is in the southeast of Great Britain. London is a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic city that has a population of more than 7.5 million people.
London is divided into boroughs and in each one you can find a multitude of things to visit. In the business centre of Central London, you can see the skyscraper of Tower 42 or 30 St. Marys Axe and the Avenue of Local Stars in Covent Garden. The West-End is the part of London designated for leisure and shopping, as is Trafalgar Square, Oxford Street, Soho or Piccadilly Circus etc.
The East End borough of London is an area in reconstruction as it is planned to be one of the main areas of the 2012 Olympic Games and are carrying out important urbanity projects in the area. The East End has various markets and museums such as the Columbia Road Flower Market and the Geofrye Museum.
In West London we can find the residential area of the neighbourhoods of Notting Hill, Portobello Road and Kings Road etc. Amongst other things, in South London we find Wimbledon that is famous for its tennis tournaments, and Greenwich that is a place with a lot of history. North London is characterized for its big parks like Hampstead Heath or the Alexander Park.
London's airports are Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, City and Southend.
