Bilbao is the capital city of the Biscay province and at the same time, of the Basque Country. It has a population of more than 350.000 people, and this large population is due to fact that Bilbao is a city of services and large industrialization.
To continue, we are going to take a trip to the most extraordinary places that Bilbao offers us, and we are going to do it in the most comfortable way possible, on the tranvia. The first stop that we are going to make is of course at the Guggenheim Museum. A modern building in Abandoibarra Avenue and inaugurated in 1997, was designed by the architect, Frank Owen Gehry. Here we can contemplate the great exhibitions that are mostly of modern art developed in the XX century. Outside we can find Puppy, the dog made of flowers who permanently looks after the museum.
Our second stop will be the old town where the charm of Bilbao is kept. This is the oldest part of the city and here we can find the Santiago Cathedral and the Saint Nicholas Church.
The following stop could be the Deusto University that was founded by the Jesuits in 1886. Last of all and as an obliged appointment, we can take an incredible walk along the Bilbao Estuary, the mouth of the River Nervion.
